A 23-year-old man died of massive head trauma when a tree fell on his car, LaPorte County Deputy Coroner John Sullivan said. The man was driving near Michigan City about 9:20 p.m. Monday when his car was struck. The man's name was not immediately available.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings Monday night for several counties in northwestern and northern Indiana as the powerful thunderstorms marched across the region.
More storms were in the forecast for northern and central Indiana on Tuesday
